Disguised as a woman in a wheelchair, a young man managed to cross the security lines at the Louvre Museum with a cake, which he then slammed into Lenardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.
Fortunately, the painting, which attracts curious people from all over the world, did not suffer any damage, thanks to its protective glass, which did not allow the invaluable works of art to be touched, created by the great master in the period 1503-1519.
Videos circulated on social media showed the young man being forcibly taken away by police, while shouting that there are people trying to destroy the planet, and that awareness of this danger is needed.
The protective glass was cleaned by the museum staff, while the painting itself suffered no damage. The Mona Lisa has survived endless threats for more than 500 years.
Leonardo’s masterpiece is today one of the most protected works of art in the world. The most recent attack on her took place in 2009, when a Russian woman who was denied French citizenship angrily fired a ceramic cup at the painting, again without damaging it.
