Full press release from PSD:
Dardan Molliqaj, Chairman of PSD has been arrested!
A few minutes ago, Dardan Molliqaj was arrested in the premises of T7 Television. He was arrested in connection with the incident in protest against the rise in electricity prices.
Invitations for interview, respectively their personal submission by the Kosovo Police was not realized in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure. Violent deprivation of Dardan’s freedom constitutes an abuse of power by the entire responsible chain within the justice system. His arrest is completely disproportionate and inconsistent with the legal conditions for such an action.
This arrest could happen today at any time. He has been in the office and in various meetings in Pristina during these two days. However, the arrest, without an arrest warrant, was made on the premises of a television station. Now that he has been arrested, we understand that a police arrest warrant is being drafted.
This clearly shows that the justice authorities, by illegally and scandalously arresting Dardan Molliqaj, have been put in the service of Kurti’s power.
We assure you that we, the Social Democratic Party, will hold them accountable and will take all legal actions against all those who tonight abused their power to deprive Dardan Molliqaj of his liberty. Today’s unnecessary arrest is politically motivated and is a direct attack on our opposition actions.
While the party spokesperson, Natyra Kuçi said that we are not dealing with blows, but pushing by Molliqaj.
“Initially, in the shooting below, it is clear that we are not dealing with kicks but pushing. This is a fact.
Secondly, Dardani has continued his activities without stopping for two days in a row, both in the PSD office and in cafes in meetings with citizens. Third, and most importantly, his arrest today, shortly before his appearance in Pressing, is nothing more than a political arrest to silence Dardan“, Writes Kuçi.
