At least 33 people were killed and 43 injured in an attack on a mosque and religious school in Kunduz, northern Afghanistan, during prayers on Friday (April 22nd).
Many are students, a Taliban official said.
Zaibulah Mujahid, the Taliban’s deputy minister of culture and information, said the attack took place in the town of Imam Saheb in Kunduz province and that the Taliban condemned the crime and expressed their deepest condolences to the victims.
Today’s attack is the latest in a series of deadly attacks across Afghanistan.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Afghan branch of the so-called Islamic State today claimed responsibility for a series of bombings carried out the day before.
The deadliest attack was on a mosque north of Maraz-e-Sharif, where at least 12 Shiite worshipers were killed and dozens injured.
