Austria’s decision to be vaccinated could be suspended if it were advised by a commission of forensic and medical experts, Chancellor Karl Nehammer told the Krone newspaper today.
Austria’s request for adult vaccination against COVID-19 is one of the strictest regulations in Europe, with other governments requiring certain groups to be vaccinated. “Austrian law came into force last weekend, but it is constantly being re-evaluated,” Nehammer said.
“A commission of legal and medical experts is re-evaluating whether vaccination should be legal to be done,” he added. Asked if the law could be repealed, Nehammer said that was what experts had advised the government.
The law was not intended to be a coercive measure, he said, calling it an attempt to find the right response in a timely manner to the dangers posed by the coronavirus.
