A few hours before the National Assembly, convened by the former leader Sali Berisha, the general secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi has issued a statement to the media, where he emphasizes that “the real assembly of the party is that of December 18”.
“The real assembly of the Democratic Party will be at 11:00, on December 18.”
According to Bardhi, 69% of the delegates of the National Assembly have confirmed their participation on December 18th. Specifically, according to him, there are 352 members from Dibra, 326 from Korça, 287 from Berat, 258 from Lezha, 389 from Shkodra, 205 from Gjirokastra, 342 from Vlora, 508 from Fieri, 308 from Durrës, 544 from Elbasan, 1326 from Tirana and 112 from Kukes. 302 delegates from the National Council have signed.
After publishing a video of Berisha in one of the lectures he has held since September, where he stated that the delegates tore up the invitations to participate on December 18, Bardhi responded by presenting all those who have confirmed their participation.
Bardhi called the holding of the Assembly convened by Berisha a “rally”, because according to him, every decision-making body of the Democratic Party will be absent from the meeting.
Meanwhile, Bardhi refuses to call the assembly the next day, convened by Berisha. He sees it simply as a rally, adding that most members of parliament are responsible party officials. “In every election campaign, they have been there to defend the votes of the Democrats. Between Berisha’s personal plight and the troubles added by the misgovernment, they have chosen to be on the side of the ordinary democrats”.
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha earlier invited all party delegates to participate in the December 11 Assembly, in “Air Albania”, where he asked those who have a different opinion to come.
Among other things, an open invitation from Berisha was for the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha.
