The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, this Tuesday said that the limitation of mandates and vetting in politics are the only instruments that can clean politics from the corrupt.
In a meeting with FRPD youth, Basha stressed the need to limit power to two terms.
“The foundation is elections is votes. Power corrupts. The US says no more than two terms and that is what I proposed“, He said.
The leader of the Democrats said that for this reason it is proposed that the sanctions for the destruction of the elections in Albania be made as strong as in Italy. He stressed that in case a politician is caught buying votes he could be sentenced to 21 or 22 years in prison.
According to him, Italy carries out such a severe punishment for these politicians, as the latter kill the hope of the citizens.
“A politician who seizes power by such means has no human face, no matter how beautifully he acts, recites or laughs. Albania needs a policy with a human face, that is why it needs youth. This is a clash of generations and cultures. Youth does not know how to lynch, there is another culture. There is no more beautiful anger than that of the youth, it is the one that will change Albania“, Said Basha.
He thinks that a policy with a human face can only be guaranteed by a free vote.
The leader of the Democrats, in his speech, underlined that a large number of young people are in emigration and the same path seems to continue again, if Albania does not change.
“With unfulfilled promises of 31 years with politicians who grew old and want to die in power, starting with the one who has 6 years who says he will leave politics and every year invents tricks and commits electoral crimes to swallow any power“, Said Basha.
He said that only the establishment of rules will enable the transition from words to deeds, adding that the Democrats have a plan for this.
“If some of them had become a reality, the election massacre would not have taken place. They ask for it all for themselves only for themselves they do not accept it. Today in politics there are many who do not represent the interests of the people, who do not justify wealth and who have come as the will of the interests of the underworld.
