Belgian prosecutors who questioned the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha regarding the file of “Toyota Yaris” will stay this Friday in Tirana.
According to Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha, they are in the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, while they will ask others who are part of the Belgian justice file.
“Belgian prosecutors are in their last day in Tirana. They came to the Prosecution to meet with officials and interrogate other citizens who were in a Belgian justice letter. The identity is not known, while in the list of six people are the names that were made public in 2018, where 3.4 million euros were blocked.
The file remains open, where the investigation team has administered a file that will be attached to the investigative file. In addition to Lulzim Basha, two others were asked who are aware of the sensational issue of June 2018, an event that caused a political storm for the considerable amount of money blocked in the Port of Durres.said journalist Anila Hoxha.
On Thursday afternoon, Basha appeared before the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK) to testify about the “Toyota Yaris” file.
Sources for journalist Anila Hoxha said that the letter-message came to the Special Court from the judge of preliminary investigations, Laurence Heusghem, who asks the prosecution to ask the leader of the Democrats Basha about a statement about Toyota Yaris, in which 3.4 million were blocked euro.
In the chronicle broadcast exclusively by top channel on June 11, 2019, it is said that the Belgian preliminary judge Laurence Heusghem asked the Prosecution of Serious Crimes to ask in the capacity of witness the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha, regarding a statement of his almost a year ago, two days before the Albanian authorities to block the Toyota Yaris vehicle in which 3.4 million euros were seized.
Belgian authorities, who are also investigating the Toyota Yaris, are asking prosecutors Doloresa Musabelliu and Eneid Nakuci to ask the Democrat leader three questions that need to be answered; how was he informed about the presence of monetary values, what is this information exactly and who gave him this information?
Heusghem wants to know if there is a file with Lulzim Basha’s testimony and if a copy will be made available to him.
We recall that the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha has been asked before about these circumstances by the Prosecution of the capital and this evidence has been withdrawn by prosecutors of serious crimes, who have not yet decided whether to take them as welcome the October 2018 statements or will re-examine him again as a witness.
On the other hand, sources close to the Democratic Party, suggest that Lulzim Basha has expressed full readiness to contribute to the investigation of the Belgian justice authorities for the case known as Toyota Yaris, to help, according to him, in clarifying criminal political connections in the money laundering affair with political guarantees of senior government officials.
The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, during the debate this Thursday in the Albanian Parliament with the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, reminded the latter of the issue “Toyota Yaris”.
“Belgian prosecutors are in Tirana and will interrogate you“, Said Manja, addressed to Basha.
The DP leader, on the other hand, responded with irony, telling Manja “to take cigarettes to his two friends in prison 313, Koka and Tahiri”.
Regarding the investigation, the Tirana Court on October 19 sentenced Ervis Vladin to one year and six months in prison. This is for the seizure of 3.4 million euros in two vehicles type “Toyota Yaris”. The latter had arrived at the Port of Durres from Belgium. Vladi was one of six people investigated in the case.
All were initially investigated for money laundering and structured criminal group. However, the court convicted Vlad, finding him guilty of the criminal offense of “failure to declare income at the border or valuables”. Due to the shortened trial, he will be sentenced to only one year in prison.
In the same case, Agim Çeka was sentenced for “illegal possession of weapons” to two years and four months in prison.
In June 2018, the police found and seized the two cars, where the amount of money was found.
This issue has also troubled politics at the time. Democrat leader Lulzim Basha from the rostrum of the Assembly declared millions of euros of crime, which were coming to Albania through “Toyota” vehicles.
Three days after Basha’s statement, two “Toyota Yaris” cars with several million euros inside were seized in Durrës. Three people were arrested, the two drivers and the administrator of the company that transported the cars.
Initially, the investigation was launched by the former Serious Crimes Prosecution. She arrested and issued security measures for six people as suspects involved in the incident.
But, later, the Prosecution declared incompetence and transferred the file to the Tirana Prosecution. The latter assessed that the accusation of non-declaration of money at the borders for all persons did not stand.
In fact, the Toyota Yaris case was under investigation in four countries, including the United Kingdom, for as long as one turned out to be suspected of cocaine trafficking.
