Belgium will start administering the fourth dose against COVID-19 for people with weakened immunity.
The Minister of Health of the Flemish-speaking region, Wouter Beke, announced that starting today, an invitation has been sent to people with weak immunity for the fourth dose of Pfizer-Biontech or Moderna vaccines.
Beke reminded that this group in September 2021 have received the third dose, while in the first phase invitations will be sent to 200 thousand people.
At least 74 percent of Belgium’s 11.4 million population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, while in booster doses this percentage is 49 percent.
With cases falling in the country in recent days, pandemic relief is on the agenda.
The Government Advisory Committee will meet on Friday to consider the transition to the “orange” level instead of the “red” level currently applicable to measures in the country.
The average daily cases of COVID-19 in the country are about 38 thousand.
