US President Joe Biden has announced a complete ban on Russian oil, gas and coal imports to the United States.
Biden said the move was taken as a strong blow that the American people will give to Russia, to punish it for the war in Ukraine.
“We will not be part of subsidizing Putin’s war“Biden told a news conference.
Despite growing fears of rising gas prices, the move has broad bipartisan political support in the US.
Although the price of oil rose in the US, Biden’s move came immediately, unlike the EU which is more dependent on Russian oil.
