In the White House, the possibility of President Joe Biden traveling to Europe as soon as possible is being discussed, amid a conflict in Ukraine that is showing no signs of easing.
Some of his key aides, including US administration’s number two Kamala Harris or Secretary of State Antony Blinken, have already visited the old continent in this time of crisis for him. The White House is looking at the possibility of a stop by the US head of state in Poland, but other countries in Europe are not ruled out. Such a plan, however, has not yet been finalized. What Biden stated earlier is that the US will continue to supply Ukraine with weapons, food and money.
The prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia are heading to Kiev today to show their “clear” support for Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia on February 24. The head of the Czech executive, Petr Fiala, clarified in a Twitter post that the three leaders will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal.
“We will convey the European Union’s clear support for Ukraine and its freedom and independence. At the same time, we will present a comprehensive package of support for Ukraine and its citizens. “The international community has been informed about this visit by international organizations, including the United Nations”, he explained. A statement from the Polish government said that the prime ministers would act as representatives of the European Council, and that the meeting was organized in co-operation with the president of the council, Charles Michel, and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
