NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has welcomed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the alliance headquarters.
Blinken will attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers to discuss “Russia’s brutal and unprovoked attack on Ukraine.”
“NATO will defend all allies and its territory against a Russian attack“, Said Blinken, as he arrived for a meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers in Brussels.
He added that the alliance is not seeking conflict.
“But if the conflict comes to us, we are ready for it and we will defend every inch of NATO territory,” he told reporters, condemning what he called Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine.
On the other hand, the Secretary-General thanked Blinken for his extraordinary leadership and strong US commitment to the Alliance at this critical time.
The foreign ministers will discuss NATO’s immediate response to the crisis and the long-term implications for Euro-Atlantic security.
That is why the presence of NATO forces in the eastern part of the Alliance has increased.
