US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this Sunday that the US is working with its allies in Europe to consider banning Russian oil imports.
According to him, this comes as an attempt to further punish the country for the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
“When it comes to Russian oil, yesterday I spoke with the President and other members of the Cabinet on this very topic, and now we are talking to our European partners and allies to look in a coordinated way to stop the import of Russian oil making sure that there is still a proper supply of oil in world marketsHe told CNN.
The United States has already announced a number of sanctions against Russia and President Vladimir Putin since the invasion of Ukraine. The unprecedented move to sanction its oil exports is likely to lead to rising prices, delivering a painful blow to consumers around the world as Russia is the world’s No. 2 oil producer.
