Blinken’s envoy meets Rama: We talked about reforms, energy, region and Bulgarian veto

Accompanied by the DASH special envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Eskobar and Ambassador Yuri Kim, he walks the same path from where tomorrow the delegates of the DP National Assembly will address the congress palace, to advance the taking of the helm of the DP by Sali Berisha , which since May 2021 has been declared ‘Non Grata’ by Antony Blinken chief Karen Donfried.

While the American position on Berisha is clear as crystal, the high American office Karen Donfried climbed the stairs of the prime minister where he stayed for 60 minutes with the prime minister Edi Rama.

Two American servicemen were also part of the American delegation, which suggests that in this meeting with Rama, security issues were also discussed.

The Prime Minister did not wait for Yuri Kim’s Twitter tweet to show what was talked about. Preferred Facebook to reveal conversation topics.

“We discussed extensively the positive progress of reforms, the strengthening of justice, strategic investments in energy, Bulgaria’s veto on Northern Macedonia, the situation in the region, as well as the full support that the United States gives to the Open Balkans. “The Assistant Secretary’s considerations for Albania’s role in the Security Council and in our region were impressive.”

Karen Donfried’s visit to Tirana was preceded on Thursday by a statement by Prime Minister Rama on integration, from where he hoped that the Americans would wake up their European partners and continue with enlargement.

“We have a full synergy and the United States, through their respective figures, is in a process to push forward the official opening of negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia. One of the things, not to mention many other aspects. “

This American synergy was witnessed a little later when the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried, met in Tirana with the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi. About this meeting the American Embassy says:

“They agreed that the unjustified invasion of Ukraine by Russia has made integration even more urgent. They discussed the joint priority of Albania and Northern Macedonia’s integration into the European Union and Assistant Secretary Donfried reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for Albania’s membership in the European Union, and said the US remains committed to working with Albanian partners and of the EU to ensure justice reform in Albania and the successful path to the European Union. “
