Six patrol boats and four planes were searching today to survive in the area where a cruise ship gave the alarm signal before disappearing from radars, presumably sunk.
The Coast Guard said the cruise ship sank without any signs of surviving passengers.
The alarm signal was given by her around 01.00 local time (Albanian time 06.00) but after more than eight hours of searching no survivor was found by the search means.
Officials on the 19-tonne Kazu1 said the top of the boat was flooded and the vehicle was tilted 30%, and this was the last contact with it.
The vehicle was carrying 24 passengers and two crew members.
She was sailing along the panoramic Kashuni cliffs at the top of the Shiretoko Peninsula north of Hokkaido Island.
The peninsula is home to many rare species of animals and plants and was declared a world heritage site in 2005.
High waves plus strong wind at the time of the accident had forced other naval vessels to return.
Searches for the serious accident continue.
