Shaban Shala Primary School in Podujevë / Podujevo closed its doors to students on Thursday for security reasons.
On Wednesday afternoon, work was underway to renovate the school roof. While the workers were cleaning, they came across some vehicles that were suspected to be explosive. To the workers they resembled mines.
The school principal says he was informed by police that they removed the suspicious explosive devices.
Rafet Berisha: The workers did not know what they could be, then based on some images they saw some other people had suspicions that they could be some kind of mine. There seem to have been 4 or five.
The school has not been renovated for a long time since its construction and no one has encountered such tools before.

Police on Thursday removed all suspicious vehicles from the school building, however a report on school safety and the start of the teaching process is still awaited.
