After saving it for several weeks, Russia resumed bombing of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
The Ukrainian military said five long-range missiles were fired from the Caspian Sea toward the capital at around 6am.
One of the missiles was destroyed, while others hit key infrastructure points north of Kiev. Russian missiles hit railroad tracks and the buildings of a machinery repair company that was supposed to house weapons.
So far only one injured railway worker has been reported, while allegations of weapons cover-up have been refuted.
Ukraine’s air defense in updating the situation, said it shot down four more Russian missiles fired from Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine.
Russia tried to regain the lost positions in two areas of Mykolaiv, but “suffered heavy losses and withdrew,” according to information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian military spokesman Igor Konashenkov, on the other hand, said the bombings on the outskirts of Kiev destroyed T-72 tanks, supplies from Eastern European countries, and other armored vehicles stationed in the hangars.
Weapons coming from foreign countries have become a concern for Moscow, while President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with Rossiya-1 television, openly threatened that Moscow would hit new targets if the West supplied Ukraine with long-range missiles. and said the new arms shipments to Kiev were aimed at “prolonging the conflict”.
His comments come just days after the US announced it would supply Ukraine with missiles that could hit targets from an 80-kilometer range, which would give it an edge over Russia-owned missiles. a few miles lower.
