Vladimir Putin could declare a new world war on May 9, the UK Secretary of Defense has warned.
Ben Wallace said the Russian leader could launch a “massive” mobilization of forces and use May 9 to declare war on the “Nazis” of the world as he calls them.
Wallace told LBC Radio: “I would not be surprised… for him to declare on May 9 that, ‘we are now at war with the Nazis of the world and we must mobilize the Russian people en masse. ‘Putin, as he has failed in almost all objectives and may seek to consolidate what he has“, He said.
Putin began his neighbor’s Russian occupation on February 24 by saying it was a special operation to liberate Ukraine from the Nazis.
Since then, Ukrainian cities have been constantly bombed, a war that British government minister Liz Truss has said could continue for 10 years.
And in the face of the West offering money and weapons to Ukraine, Russia has referred to its nuclear capabilities in threats to stop other countries from getting involved.
“If anyone tries to intervene from the outside in this war, you should know that this will be a threat to Russia and our response will come without delay,” Putin warned earlier.
