A British woman reportedly flew to the US to marry a death row inmate.
The desperation of 26-year-old Rebecca Short went so far as to tell family that she was going on vacation but secretly she had become “friends of letters” with the double killer, 35-year-old Manuel Ovante Jr.
The dental nurse originally posted photos from Disney World Park in Florida, and from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Then her shocked relatives looked at photos posted from Eyman Jail in Arizona.
A friend of hers told The Sun: “She was always obsessed with serial killer documentaries in America, but no one thought she would run away to marry one.”
Mexican-American Ovante shot dead two people when he and others went to a house to search for drugs in 2008.
He was convicted in 2010 and on the 14th of this month he was given permission for marriage.
Rebecca had brought with her a black wedding cake with red cream with the message: “Until death do us part”.
It is not known if the departure had in mind that the man was sentenced to death and his sentence might not be too late.
She also posed for photos with her new husband in orange prison jumpsuits as well as with his family.
The girl’s neighbor Rebecca wrote from Oxfordshire“She did not tell me anything, I asked her but she did not want to talk.”
Eyman Prison currently has 113 death row inmates.
According to statistics, these prisoners spend about 15 waiting until the execution with fatal injection of chemicals.
