Lindsay Sandiford was sentenced to death for drug trafficking a decade ago and has now expressed her last thrilling wish as she awaits execution by firing squad in Bali.
The British grandmother was convicted after her arrest in 2013 while trying to smuggle $ 1.5 million worth of cocaine into Indonesia.
The sentence in Indonesia for drug trafficking of this measure is death by firing squad, REPORTS the British daily Mirror.
Prisoners can choose to stand or sit in front of soldiers, who take aim at the heart to ensure quick death.
If the prisoner manages to survive the first shots, then the commander shoots him in the head.
Sandiford, 65, awaits her execution date as the procedure is not often performed in Indonesia and inmates often wait more than ten years.
The woman was settled in India in 2021 after separating from her husband, but was arrested when she arrived in Bali from Bangkok on May 19, 2012, after cocaine was found in her luggage.
The former legal secretary stated that he was forced to traffic drugs by a gang that threatened his family.
But she later changed her version when she learned she could be sentenced to death if found guilty.
The woman told officers she was charged with transporting drugs by British collector Julian Ponder.
Although she agreed to take part in the operation to capture Ponder, she was charged and later sentenced to death on January 22, 2013.
Sandford spends her time in jail knitting various outfits which she tries to sell to raise money for logical actions.
During her time in prison she befriended the killer Heather Mack, who is 10 years old for the murder of her mother Seila von Wiese-Mack.
Mack discovers that Sandiford has been made with hard temperament from prison.
“She spends all day in her cell and does not mix well with other prisoners,” she said, adding that the woman had one last wish: “She said she wanted to die.”
Sandiford has admitted that already: “It is no longer difficult for me to cope.”
