The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuçi., Has stated that the President of the Basic Court of Mitrovica, Lilana Stevanovi., Has been suspended at the request of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. He added that on Friday, March 25, “all Serb commanders and police officers” who attended a meeting of the National Security Council, held in Belgrade on March 22, are expected to be fired.
The Kosovo Judicial Council announced on March 24 that it had suspended Stevanovic, but Kosovo institutions have not confirmed that her suspension came after she attended a meeting with Vucic in Belgrade.
Regarding the suspension of Stevanovic, the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia also reacted, calling the decision of the Kosovo Judicial Council “scandalous”.
Meanwhile, according to Vuçiç, the dismissals of members of the Kosovo Police on March 25 will be made by order of Kurti, and that according to him, the chief of the Kosovo executive has decided “to attack the Serbs.”
“Albin Kurti has violated the Brussels Agreement and according to his will and those who defend it, the Brussels Agreement no longer exists,” Vucic said in a video message posted on social media.
The Brussels Agreement provides for the integration of judges, prosecutors and police into Kosovo institutions.
Vuçi pretend claimed that Kurti with these actions wants to disrupt the peace in Kosovo.
“He is the one who with these decisions wants to attack the Serbian people wherever he lives,” he said, adding that Serbia wants to keep the peace and that he will address these actions to the Quint states and the international community.
On March 22, Vucic met with Kosovo Serb representatives, with whom he talked about not allowing Serbian parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in Kosovo. After that meeting, it was announced that in the south and north of Mitrovica, on March 25, Serbs would hold protests.
Serbian elections will be held on April 3rd. Kosovo has said that it has not reached an agreement with Serbia to hold these elections, as it has requested that the Serbian Government address the Government of Kosovo with a request. But, Vuçiç said that with this action, Kosovo wanted Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence, which was opposed by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
