The CEC has approved the SMI’s request to register as a coalition in the March 6 elections.
Celibashi: The assessment of the Commission is: We consider that justifying the claims of the DP representative, first of all for the legitimacy in relation to the deadline, we are reviewing this request today and at the moment it is reviewed, the SMI appears to be registered as an electoral subject.
The claim has no legal basis. We are reviewing and reconfirming their interest in having an electoral coalition in this election. Therefore, I assess that the request of the electoral subject SMI reviewed today to register a coalition with an electoral subject that has elected it, in my assessment has full legitimacy. Regarding the content and the material or essential part of the claim of the DP representative, I think it stands, specifically in terms of some identifying aspects whether political or electoral of this coalition. I believe that the reasoned request by the DP representative that we would be in this situation if we lacked documentation does not stand.
We have all the elements to register one political party minimally with another as an electoral subject. We consider that it is unnecessary and we are in the situation when the request composed of several aspects reflects conflict according to the provisions of Article 65/66 of the Electoral Code.
