“Time will tell that China’s position is on the right side of history” regarding the war in Ukraine, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.
“China will continue to make independent judgments based on the merits of the case and with an objective and fair stance. We will never accept any external pressure and will also oppose any baseless accusations and suspicions against China“Wang Yi told reporters.
Wang said that “the long-term solution lies in abandoning the Cold War mentality, refraining from engaging in group confrontation. Only in this way can long-term stability be achieved on the European continent.”
The Chinese foreign minister’s statements come after US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone for about two hours with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday, warning him not to help Russia in its war in Ukraine.
The US has previously said that Russia has asked China for military assistance for the war in Ukraine, while Beijing has so far not condemned the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
