CIA fears Kabul effect: Who will have the vast arsenal of weapons the West is sending to Ukraine?

At CIA headquarters, Lengli, have begun to make some calculations, fearing the fate of the many weapons that have been sent and are being sent to Ukraine.

At the start of the war, the list of armaments included only the $ 2.7 billion in supplies that arrived after 2014, and the increase of about $ 200 million in aid that Joe Biden promised in December last year.

After the Russian occupation remittances increased drastically. According to official data from the Pentagon and the White House, $ 3.4 billion worth of cargo left for Kiev starting February 24. To these are added the 800 million additional grants promised by Biden, which will be distributed starting next week.

So weapons worth about $ 7.1 billion, are today part of the arsenal of the Ukrainian army. To which must be added remittances equal to about $ 1.6 billion from European countries alone, and over 550 million in aid from the UK.

So over $ 9 billion worth of weapons, which, as one US intelligence official recently explained to CNN, no one knows exactly where they ended up or how they were used. And this unknown is not a small problem.

Because in Langley they did not forget the problems after Russia’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1989. Shortly after and during the first half of the 1990s, the CIA was forced to track down and then buy Stinger missiles left in the hands of the Mujahideen. who risked being sold to terrorist groups or enemy countries that were willing to copy their technology.

And the case of Ukraine is no different. Also because the weapons, after being distributed to Ukrainian emissaries waiting for them at NATO bases in Poland, Romania and Slovakia, lose track very quickly.

“In a short time we can rely on a certain loyalty. But when loads of weapons enter the war zone, that loyalty is reduced to zero. “The weapons end up very quickly in a big black hole, from which no information comes out,” US intelligence sources told CNN.

This statement makes it clear that NATO, the United States and Britain have no control over the destination and use of these shipments. This is where the concerns of CIA leaders come from.

If even a small number of anti-tank missiles or anti-aircraft missiles fell into the hands of groups outside the control of the Ukrainian army, Europe would find itself facing a very insidious threat within its borders.

Any of the various nationalist and extremist groups currently engaged on the Kiev side, after a possible ceasefire, could use those weapons in an attempt to seize power. Because of these uncertainties, according to intelligence sources who spoke to CNN, it becomes very dangerous to meet all the demands coming from Volodymyr Zelenski and his government.

“They are at war and everything they do or say in public is intended to give them an advantage and victory in the war,” CNN sources said, noting that in any conflict, the main concern of those surrounded is guarantee themselves increasingly substantial military assistance. Precisely for this reason, those who supply them must not forget that in the future these weapons can be used against them. / “Il Giornale” – Bota.al
