The European Commission has filed a complaint against Germany with the European Court of Justice alleging that the bloc’s powerful member state has failed to produce protection plans for at least 4,000 endangered environmental areas.
Germany has not yet designated a significant number of regions as separate protected areas, according to the Commission statement.
