Chelsea became the Club World Cup champions for the first time, after a 2-1 victory, in 120 minutes of play, against Palmeiras.
Despite dominating most of this challenge, the London “blues” needed extra minutes to secure this triumph.
The first part of this confrontation ended with a goalless draw, while the English team tried several times to hit the gate of the Brazilians.
It would take 55 minutes for Chelsea to be able to take the temporary advantage thanks to Lukaku’s goal, after an assist by Hudson.
However this advantage lasted only 9 minutes, as Veiga gave his team the equalizer, after a shot from the penalty spot.
The match would continue with the 1-1 draw even after 90 minutes, thus passing in the extra minutes for the announcement of the champion of this trophy.
The fate of this super confrontation was decided in the 117th minute, when Havertz scored the second goal, that of victory, for the English team, hitting the ball from the white penalty spot.
While in the last minutes of the match Palmeiras would play with 10 players, with Luan coming out of the game with a red card.
This was the second final for Chelsea, after that of 2019 against Liverpool, but the first victory of this trophy.
