Von der Leyen said the measures include a total ban on coal imports, meaning a loss of 4 billion euros a year for Russia, a complete ban on transactions for the four largest Russian banks, a ban on Russian ships’ access to ports of EU countries, bans on the export of beverages, wood as well as additional measures including a ban on financial support for Russian public bodies.
However, for this plan to be implemented, all 27 EU member states must give the green light on Wednesday.
