Verdi Morava, arrested as part of the criminal group that recruited Albanians to ISIS, is free today.
In an exclusive interview for the show ‘Albania live’ on Top Channel, Morava says that he will continue the legal battle believing in his innocence.
How is your day now?
It’s a day I spend with celebrities wishing to meet me. Even where I was psychologically and spiritually I was always free, even though I was physically behind bars.
Remember the moment of arrest?
Yes, of course. It was 4:50 a.m. Tuesday. I was not in Tirana, I was in another city at the house of some friends.
Are you waiting for the arrest?
I could not even imagine it, not even think about it. I had not even dreamed of it.
The charge was escorting a person who was heading towards ISIS, which was later based on the statement of two other persons.
The old man, about 73-74 years old, a few days ago asked me if I had the opportunity, on a certain day, he had cut the ticket to accompany him to the airport because he was going to Turkey. As for the people we met at the airport, I did not even know them by face. They knew each other. Paradoxically, in our group file, when it came to my name, it was said that I had communicated with these people in a certain way. While when talking about these people, in relation to other people, there are arguments that justify me. So the prosecution itself indirectly acquitted me. I asked for no summary judgment or separation, I wanted to look at all the tales they had embroidered. It turned out that there was nothing about me.
Will you legally pursue your innocence?
Of course. My case has not yet taken shape. I am innocent
