Young women who have been injected with the first and second doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines are undergoing changes in their periodic cycles, a study by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (ISPN) said today.

Vaccinated women aged 18 to 30 years who participated in the ISPN Institute study reported increased changes in their menstrual cycles. ““Many women were experiencing more severe periods than usual after the first and second doses of the vaccine.” Survey published yesterday.

7.6% of participants had experienced period bleeding more than before vaccination. 13.6% of them said that the change was noticed after the first dose of the vaccine, while with the second dose, the figure was added to 15.3% of women.

The study said that the changes after the first dose were “transitory“, Which means that the bleeding levels returned to normal a few weeks after vaccination.

But two-thirds of women who reported the temporary change said it returned after taking the second dose.

The head of the study, Lill Trogstad, pointed out that changes in menstrual cycles are common in general, but their percentage increased after vaccinations.

Trogstad said the findings should be followed by other analyzes to clarify whether the cycles are really affected by vaccination.

The suspicions about the issue came after several reports of vaccine side effects earlier in the year.

More than 60,000 women of different ages participated in the study.

Following the findings, agencies have recommended that women postpone vaccination until symptoms are investigated or passed.

The EU EMA regulator has said more studies are needed to establish a clear link, reports Reuters.

Some other commentators have attributed the changes to “pandemic stress.”
