With a normative act the government undertook the establishment of the Transparency Board for food basket products. The Ministry of Finance has not yet announced what the pricing methodology will be for oil, rice, sugar or flour.
Meanwhile, from March 17, businesses have started receiving tax filings to report product price list, merchandise purchase invoices, employee payroll and in this case fiscalization certificate.
The government is in the process of collecting information from traders although the fiscalization platform should bring this information in real time.
‘Something else that remains unclear in this transparency situation is whether businesses are working at a profit margin or not and this leaves room for abuse’– said Eduart Gjokutaj
On revenues, the government intends to collect 15% more profit tax from businesses, but this remains only on paper in conditions when businesses say they are working even below cost. What is frightening at the moment is that government pressure could push businesses even harder towards tax evasion.
