Tirana could not go beyond the first qualifying round in the Champins League as the blue and white failed in both challenges against the Luxembourg team of Dudelange.
Tirana plays the first match on Tuesday at Air Albania starting at 20:00 (you can follow the challenge on SuperSport through the Digitalb platform), as UEFA has also decided the referees who will distribute justice in the capital. A quartet of judges from Cyprus, led by Loukas Sotiriou, has been appointed for this challenge.
The latter is not an unknown name for the Albanian teams, as he has judged Laçi in the past. In the 2019-2020 edition, the Kurbins started their European adventure from the first qualifying round of the Europa League where they faced Hapoel Ber Sheva. In the first match they played at home, Loukas Sotiriou was the main one, as that match ended with the result 1-1.
In that match, Loukas Sotiriou took the yellow card out of his pocket five times, punishing Kurbina on two occasions, while Redon Xhixha was also on the field, who will now face the same referee again, but this time representing Tirana’s shirt. Meanwhile, Sotiriou’s other European experiences are related to the qualifiers for the European Youth Championship, U17 or U21, while he also refereed in the group stage of the UEFA Youth League./ Super Sport
