A cabinet in the 9-year school “Qazim Turdiu” in the capital, is equipped with a new dental chair, providing quality service for almost 550 students.
The pilot project has been implemented in 10 schools in Tirana and 11 thousand students are benefiting from it. Ina Molla, a fifth grade student, is having her next check-up at the dentist Erjona.
“I take great care of my teeth. Wash them 2-3 times a day. I check them once in 6 months. We should not eat a lot of sugars, such as cakes, biscuits, as they damage the teeth, but sometimes we can eat, because without them we can not live. Here at the school dentist I came for a simple check up and to be honest it was very nice here. I also like the doctor is very good. It is for children. The dentist is here every day for us. We do not have to pay here. While out-of-school service e.g. a tooth or tooth filling costs 30 thousand ALL and more“, Says student Ina Molla.
“I have only come here once for a check-up, and today I did the fluoridation that protects my teeth from damage and sensitivity from the cold. “You do not get stressed here and it was better than I expected”, says Stacey Borizani.
“The dental service in this school is focused on screening, ie identifying the problems that children have with their teeth and prevention, which includes professional cleaning of tartar and fluoridation. The problems we have noticed so far are in the oral health of the students are the acceptance of membranes and stones up to the third and fourth degree tumors which is the highest.
We notice that some students have good oral hygiene, while some others have pronounced deficiencies, especially boys who are more negligent in brushing their teeth. We aim to raise awareness among students by addressing different topics in oral health classes“, Explains dentist Erjona Aranitasi.
