Chaos and despair are gripping some Russian troops, US media say, quoting a Pentagon official who goes even further with his claims.
The official in question claims that these soldiers are sabotaging their own vehicles in order to avoid fighting. A large number of Russian troops are ill-trained, and improperly prepared for a genuine large-scale war.
Morale between them is also not high, and on the other hand they face supply problems, including that of food and fuel. Such a conclusion seems to be based on the evidence of the captured Russians, is considered to be one of the reasons why the 60-kilometer convoy of Russian tanks and armored vehicles is not advancing, but is almost dragging on in recent days near Kiev.
The tracking of Russian messages also shows cases where troops have refused to obey orders from the central command to bomb Ukrainian cities because they “do not want to kill civilians.”
The Pentagon official, however, leaves open the possibility that Russian military leaders, who run the armed convoy, may reconsider their battle plans over how they will move to completely encircle and capture the Ukrainian capital.
