A serious event was recorded in the early hours of the day on the first floor of a building in the neighborhood “Rilindja” in Vlora.
An apartment was engulfed in flames, while 55-year-old Gjergji Beqiri, who lost his life, was also in the apartment.
According to the police, the event is suspected to be from an electric spark while the 55-year-old was suffering from mental health problems.
The victim’s neighbor, Arben Aliu, stated that he was mentally ill and that his brother was taking care of him.
“Sick, lonely, he has been rented for several years, it was his brother who was taking care of him, at 6 a.m. the woman told me that smoke came out of Gjergji’s house. The smoke was unimaginable and I could not get inside, he was sick, you could not see him, his brother helped him. The fire endangered the entire palace and the first thing I did was lower the power line. “He didn’t even cook anything.” said the neighbor.
Vlora Police inspected the scene, questioning the residents and the victim’s brother, then the deceased was accompanied to the morgue of the Vlora hospital.
