Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the best way to resolve the crisis between Russia and Ukraine is through diplomacy and that he will continue consultations with his counterparts from France, Germany and Britain in the coming days.
“We are pursuing a dual strategy, on the one hand, which is also the most preferred and most responsible path: diplomacy; “But on the other hand, we are working to stop Russia from engaging in aggression,” said Secretary Blinken, who is in Australia as part of a Quartet regional summit attended by the United States, Australia, Japan and India.
The diplomatic marathon continues today with the visit to Moscow of British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“Russia must decide which path to take. We urge it to follow that of talks, de-escalation and diplomacy,” Truss said.
Tomorrow, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson travels to Poland to meet with British troops in the country and then to meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.
