Albania and Bulgaria are stepping up their efforts to be as close as possible in the field of tourism.
Today, in this context, in an event organized by Tirana International Airport, Bulgarian tour operators have held meetings with their counterparts in Tirana in order to promote tourism and create a bridge of closer cooperation between them in the tourism industry.
Since April, Sofia and Tirana have come even closer with the launch of direct flights between the two countries.
“Before the pandemic, Albania was one of the most popular and growing markets for Bulgarian tourists. The establishment of the direct line now I think will give a greater intensification not only of exchanges in the field of tourism, but also in the field of business and in other fields. “We must do everything possible to intensify it further.” said Donika Hoxha, Ambassador of Albania to Bulgaria
“I can describe Albania in three words, a beautiful country, friendly people and a good neighbor. I think this is a good opportunity. Bulgarians do not know much about Albania. You have preserved the tradition of traditional foods and learned a lot from people going abroad. “Our task is to support the tourism sector and promote tourism between the two countries.” said the Bulgarian Ambassador to Albania, Momtchil Raytchevski.
During 2019, according to official data, about 46 thousand tourists came to Albania from Bulgaria, listing the country among the 15 countries with the highest influx of visitors, while the number of Albanians who traveled to it reached 37 thousand people.
With the launch of the new direct line between the states, the number of Bulgarian tourists is expected to increase significantly. Currently, flights from Rinas Airport to Sofia are operated twice a week, but as the flow increases they may be further increased in the future.
