Novak Djokovic will be part of the Australian Open tournament which starts on January 17th.
Although he remained isolated for several days after the Australian authorities decided not to allow him to enter their country precisely because of the vaccination issue, the court ruled that the Serb should be considered an exceptional case as he has also submitted a document which allows for health reasons not to be vaccinated.
Immediately, his direct rival, Rafael Nadal, also spoke about Nole’s case, while the Spanish tennis player states that he would prefer the Serb not to be present, however he adds that justice has spoken and that it should be respected.
“Justice has spoken and it seems good to me that Djokovic will compete in the Australian Open. I find it correct because it was decided by the court and I have always been a supporter of justice. From a sports point of view, I would prefer Djokovic not to be present in this competition, but I respect the court decisions.
“The most important institutions emphasize that the vaccine is the right tool to end this pandemic, however everyone is free to make their own decisions and take responsibility for them,” said Nadal. Recall that both tennis players are in the same quota in terms of trophies in major tournaments, full of 20, as much as Roger Federer.
