From May 1, in parallel with the field control by the structures of the State Police, aerial monitoring has started by the GDF, to prevent, identify and crack down on attempts to cultivate narcotic plants.
The General Director of the State Police Gledis Nano, together with the GDF team, for 3 hours, monitored from the air, by helicopter equipped with special equipment, the northern area of the country.
During the monitoring, in remote areas such as Dukagjini, Theth, Valbona, Muriqan, Malësi e Krujës, etc., the coordinates in which there were suspicions that narcotic plants were cultivated were verified. Also, a vessel was pursued and verified, which had no illegal items on board, but had gone fishing.
The General Director of the State Police, Chief Executive Gledis Nano: We, today, conducted a monitoring flight, together with the colleagues of “Guardia di Finanza”, mainly in the northern part of the country. My participation in this flight was not simply to thank my Italian colleagues who work to support us in the fight against cannabis cultivation, but to show them all the support of the State Police and my personal determination as General Manager. of the State Police, as well as of all officers, in relation to addressing the issue of cannabis cultivation.
I want to thank the Guardia di Finanza colleagues, both the helicopter crew and the other colleagues, who monitor from the control center all the flights and locations of the countries suspected of being part of the cannabis cultivation, are a team of professionals and for this I thank the colleagues of Interforce, the General Director of the Italian Police and the Italian Ministry of Interior, which has provided us with this opportunity, to locate with the latest technology that the flying vehicle, the helicopter, that we have behind, carries with vete.
I want to assure all the employees of the State Police who will have my personal support regarding the fight against cannabis cultivation and any other kind of illegality in our country.
I congratulate and thank them for all the work they do in the field, it is not an easy job to trace and locate every cannabis plant, planted in the most rugged terrains of our country.
I assure you that the State Police is determined, with zero tolerance, against the phenomenon or problem of cannabis cultivation and we will continue as we started this year, a little earlier than previous years, to identify any place prepared for cultivation of cannabis, to destroy and annihilate every plant, from its initial stage, in the field planting. ”

Aerial monitoring by the GDF and intensive ground controls, with police officers and drones available to the State Police will continue on an ongoing basis, in order to identify and crack down on any attempt to cultivate narcotic plants.
