Although it seems like a normal process, branch 8 which is considered as the right area reflects the deep division of Democrats at the grassroots as well as the problems of this process which is being opposed by critics, for two reasons: Lack of fair competition and low turnout. The lack of turnout figures raised questions about the process. The most flagrant case is that of Pogradec, where more than half of the members of this branch boycotted the process. Field data showed that out of 1,575 members, only 703 Democrats participated in the election, ie only 44.6%.
Problems were not absent in Kukës either, the first branch that highlighted the lack of fair competition, because although the candidate Irel Elezi withdrew, the elections were not canceled instead the only candidate Admir Sinamati, was declared the winner with 669 votes. Candidate Elezi gave as a reason for withdrawal the manipulation of the lists, a problem which today from Korca was also accepted by Edith Harxhi, who in the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party suffered at the expense of such a problem.
The lists in general have been problematic lists we must say this, for various historical reasons during the last years of the Democratic Party and the registration of members, discrepancies, reconciliation of the branch lists with the headquarters.
Despite the objections and calls of critics that the process based on the cancellation of Sali Berisha continues to refresh the structures undisturbed, reflecting not only the problematic past of the Democratic Party in relation to the vote, but also the present of its deep division. But will it be temporary, or an irreversible rift?
