The Board of the Energy Regulatory Office in Kosovo approved today the decision to increase electricity tariffs for household consumers who spend over 800 kilowatts.
According to the Chairman of the Board of ERO, Ymer Fejzullahu, consumers who spend over 800 kilowatts will pay more from tomorrow 12.5 cents per kilowatt for the daily tariff and 6 cents for the low tariff.
The head of ERO, pointing out that they have shifted the proposed tariff from 600 to 800 kilowatts and will not be applicable to businesses, stressed that for household customers spending up to 800 kilowatts the increase will be 7 cents for the daily tariff and 3 cents for the overnight fee, which fee will be covered by the subsidy provided by the Government.
“For consumers who spend over 800 kilowatts a month the low tariff (night of about 6 cents) and the high tariff (of the day) of about 12 cents. At the same time for consumers up to 800 kilowatts the low tariff is 3 cents, the high tariff is about 7 cents. So, even these consumers benefit from the subsidy that exists up to 600 kilowatt hours, but at the same time over 800 kilowatts, so both categories benefit from the Government subsidy, which we really believe is affordable for most consumers.stressed Fejzullahu.
The Chairman of the Board of ERO said that based on the calculations, consumers who spend up to 1000 kilowatts, the increase will be around 10 euros.
He also indicated when the new tariffs for household customers will start to be applied:
“Based on the calculations, we have also presented in the report, those who consume up to 1000 kilowatts of electricity will have an increase of about 10 euros over the next month, on average. It also depends on the consumers how much they consume electricity day and night. However, we have emphasized that this depends on each customer imi The decision will be applied from tomorrow where it will take effect. Customers until this date will be billed with existing tariffs, while from tomorrow, February 9 will be billed with new tariffs for the block over 800. According to the decision these tariffs will remain in force until March 31, 2023 when is the regular tariff review. as defined by the legislation in force “.
Fejzullahu finally said that the dissatisfied parties can appeal to the court, and as he said, they will review any decision that comes out of these justice institutions.
“Legal advice will also be in the decision that each party has the right to contest the decisions of ERO in court and based on the final decision of the court, we will take further steps. But for all those who are not satisfied with this decision of the ERO board have the right to appeal to the competent courts in Kosovo.“, He said.
From 2017 until today there has been no tariff block for households.
