Orthodox believers across the country joined the Way of the Cross or as it is otherwise known the movement of the Epitaph of Christ through the city.
This is a religious rite that the Orthodox Church organizes on Black Friday evening and that aims to express the pain of believers for the crucifixion of Christ.
The epitaph procession took place in some cities. During Friday afternoon in Vlora, the church of St. Theodore organized the rite of passage under the epitaph and the burial of Christ, part of which became hundreds of citizens.
With a silent march, hundreds of people have made the traditional parade on the main streets of the city.
Also in Durrës, the epitaph ceremony started from the Orthodox Church of St. Asti and St. Paul along the Trade Road to reach the city center and involved many other citizens in this ceremony. The Epitaph movement in the city was preceded by the hour-long ministry of the sufferings of the Lord Jesus Christ to be followed by other services that culminate in the celebration of Easter, the most meaningful holiday for Christians.
The annual tradition was also performed in Fier by the cathedral church of St. George accompanied by numerous believers. This year this highly symbolic ceremony is preceded by the city Spirit Band.
