The meeting of the three leaders, Prime Minister Edi Rama, his Macedonian counterpart Zoran Zev and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic is being held this time in Tirana, within the “Open Balkan” initiative, where 5 agreements are expected to be signed.
The European Union gave a response to the former leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha with the protest held the day before the Prime Minister against the Open Balkans, with the participation of Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi.
In his speech at the beginning of the meeting within the Open Balkan, Prime Minister Edi Rama underlined the importance of this initiative for the countries of the region, calling on other countries to join.
“It is a key moment of our process because the agreements that will be signed will determine a very important step forward towards our goal which is to guarantee the full freedom of movement of people, goods, capital and services.
Let me go through each pillar of the Haur Balkans repeating the call for everyone to join as it is a fully inclusive initiative and certainly encouraging others in the region to be part of this effort. In the field of movement of goods, today we will sign the tripartite agreement on live animals and mutual recognition of the issued documentation and the implementation of the memorandum and transit of goods between the three of us that has already been signed in July already.
We will also sign the agreement for the field of veterinary medicine. Let me return here to the fact how many times we have talked about this, how many times we have fallen in principle. The agreement represents a milestone and provides tremendous opportunities for businesses and agricultural producers.
