As of Sunday, Ukraine’s human rights commissioner said the number of civilian casualties was 210, including children.

A seven-year-old girl died during an attack on a kindergarten, there were casualties in the capital Kiev and 10 members of Ukraine’s ethnic Greek community were killed when their southern villages came under Russian fire.

Alisa Hlans was one of six people who died when the garden where she was staying was hit on the second day of the Russian occupation, in the small town of Okhtyrka.

Alisa turned eight in three months, while Attorney General Irina Venediktova said she closed her eyes permanently in hospital on Saturday.

Doctors were fighting to save the life of a second injured child, she added in a message on social media, above a photo with the message “we need peace!”

Several other children were killed during the Russian attack, including a girl named Polina, who was in her final year of elementary school in Kiev.

According to the local authority of Kiev, she and her parents were shot dead by a group of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance on a street northwest of the capital.

Polina’s brother and sister were taken to hospital. Her sister was in intensive care and her brother was taken to a special children’s hospital.

A boy was killed when a block of flats was bombed in northeastern Ukraine on the second day of Russian occupation.

Five members of the same family died in southern Ukraine on the first day of the war as Russian troops advanced on the Crimean town of Kherson, which they took from Ukraine eight years ago.

The circumstances are unclear, but the family is said to have been trying to escape the Russian attack with two cars when they were bombed near Nova Kakhovka, outside Kherson.

Oleg Fedko had decided to remove his family from the area, but while on duty in Kherson, his father, also named Oleg Fedko went to help and the family left in two cars.

The grandparents of the 56-year-old children died along with his wife Irina and two children, Sofia who was six years old and Ivan who was only a few weeks old.

More than 450 km from the Russian border in southeastern Ukraine, the country’s ethnic Greek population suffered a double tragedy.

Greeks have lived in Ukraine since ancient times and the government in Athens says they number about 150,000. Two villages were hit, Sartana on the outskirts of Mariupol and Buhas about 65km north.
