A suspected sexual predator who was removed as a gynecologist is believed to have deceived dozens of women in Italy to perform online vaginal examinations, police announced today.
The 40-year-old was arrested today in Bari in southern Italy and his house was raided by authorities.
Several cell phones and memory cards were seized after police intercepted his phone calls following denunciations from dozens of victims.
The man had discovered the women performing tests at local clinics and then called them to tell them they had been diagnosed with vaginal infections.
“He then persuaded them to perform the online gynecological examination,” police wrote, arguing that about 400 women had been targeted by him throughout Italy, in regions such as Lazio, Lombardy and Calabria.
“He introduced himself as a doctor, knew my date of birth and place of birth and asked me if I had had a gynecological examination in recent months,” one of the victims told the daily. Republic.
“He asked me personal questions… and then asked me for a video link to the Zoom or Hangout network… there he asked me to show my personal parts to confirm the diagnosis”, says the woman who refers to the program only by the name ‘Lucia’.
A 24-year-old from Salento had first reported the abuse and posted on social media what the person had asked for.

The fraudster stayed in his home during the “examinations” and had knowledge of the personal and medical details of the victims.
