Many schools in the United States on Friday will remain closed following several threats that have circulated in recent hours on the social network TikTok.
Police and other law enforcement agencies do not believe the threats are real, as they have not been able to find a single video of such a fact, but local authorities in the US have preferred to suspend the lesson in order to avoid danger.
In some areas, schools will be open regularly, but under the strict supervision of police forces.
The risk of gunfire is taken very seriously in the United States, where over the past year alone there have been about 150 firearm-related incidents that have resulted in the death of 32 people and the injury of 100 others.
However, at present, no element has emerged so far to believe that the threats allegedly circulated on TikTok are real.
The hypothesis is that during this week on social networks circulated some videos that mentioned such a risk, but without giving evidence or references to where they could occur.
Other users, having noticed them, have alerted the danger by mentioning and distributing more other content where they talked about a danger that could come from the attacks on schools on December 17th.
School principals, following parental concerns, sent several emails explaining that no credible data had been found.
In Baltimore and Maryland, school leaders posted a message on Twitter stating that “police forces have investigated this threat, concluding that such a threat originated in Arizona and, above all, is unreliable. ”.
(1/3) ALERT: BCPS has been made aware of an anonymous threat posted on TikTok targeting all schools in the United States. The post alleges that there are planned school shootings that will take place on Friday, December 17.

After numerous concerns of the citizens, the social network TikTok made a short statement where it confirmed that it had not found any evidence where it could talk about threats of this kind.
We handle even rumored threats with utmost seriousness, which is why we’re working with law enforcement to look into warnings about potential violence at schools even though we have not found evidence of such threats originating or spreading through TikTok.

The company said it continues to communicate with police and moreover does not underestimate any warning of violence.
It is not the first time that such messages are difficult to verify and moreover that they are alleged to have circulated on social networks. In October last year, the challenge of “hitting a teacher” spread en masse among students, but which turned out to be false.
Earlier, another challenge was the theft of some school-owned buildings, but even in this case there were only a few isolated incidents, while most of the students who joined the challenge claimed to have stolen something small enough to shoot a video and gain some popularity on TikTok.
