A famous trophy hunter who killed elephants and lions seems to have had the luck of his prey recently in South Africa.
55 year old Riaan Naude, owner of the Pro Hunt Africa club, was found dead next to his pickup truck on Marken Road, Limpopo yesterday.
Two hunting rifles were in his car, found on the outskirts of the Kruger National Park, one of the world’s largest game reserves, the local network reported. Maroela Media.
Naude, from Phalaborwa, Limpopo, had previously posted pictures of himself with his killed game including lions, elephants and giraffes.
Police spokesperson Mamphaswa Seabi said police were called after the body was found.
“The victim was standing face up and there was blood on his head and face.”
A local anti-crime organisation, the Heritage Protection Group (HPG), claimed that Naude was killed by a man who had stopped the car next to him when the hunter had stopped in Mokopane due to engine overheating.
The network added that two men got out of a white Nissan pickup, and one of them shot him.
A shepherd heard the shots and saw the Nissan speeding away, according to reports.
Naudes’ group ‘Pro Hunt Africa’ is located in the northernmost part of South Africa and promotes “hunting and Eco Safari travel”, according to the release.
