Ukrainian officials and the Russian Ministry of Defense have reported another day of fierce fighting in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
The head of the military administration of the Luhansk region, Serhiy Hayday, said that the Russians continue to flatten everything, following the attacks in the Luhansk region. He specified the village of Novotoshkivka which has already been completely destroyed.
“Unfortunately, there are almost no houses left in Novotoshkivka. Our troops retreated a little, but not much, because there was nothing left to hold on, no place to hold the defenseHe said.
Images from the bombed area showed that most of the village had been destroyed.
Hayday said Russian forces were still trying to infiltrate the neighboring towns of Rubizhne and Popasna, continuing with intense shelling throughout the day.
He added that the Russians had damaged the power substation that supplied the entire region.
On the other hand the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that four command posts and an ammunition depot near the city of Sloviansk had been destroyed. Adding that another Ukrainian military target in the city of Novogrodovka was attacked.
Russian forces have targeted Sloviansk and Kramatorsk as efforts continue to reach the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Russia is continuing to carry out attacks in the eastern areas to establish controls in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in order to maintain the land route with the occupied Crimea.
