The head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, said emphatically that no proposal by Sali Berisha will be approved by the Albanian Parliament.
“Regarding a decision of the Albanian Parliament that was related to a request of some deputies and that has nothing to do with our clear unwavering condemnation of the massacre in Serbrenica, I want to clarify that our position has to do today and forever has to do with the fact and the decision that one of the deputies in the request is called Sali Berisha, an independent deputy who with the decision we have taken is unacceptable for any kind of proposal that can come with his signature in the Albanian parliament and we have taken the decision to overthrow everything that comes with his signature “, tha Balla.
He again ruled out Berisha in connection with the negotiations for the name of the new president.
“MP Sali Berisha has been declared ‘non grata’ by the US for major corrupt acts undermining democracy, whenever requests are submitted, proposals will be rejected, as far as Srebrenica is concerned, this will be a clear position of Albania. “Albania has kept everything for this issue, today the assembly has rejected a request from a person declared non grata announced by the USA that has nothing to do with the content but with the name of the proposer”, added Balla.
He announced that tomorrow there is a meeting with parliamentary groups, where the criteria will be discussed and why not with concrete names for the new head of state.
“Tomorrow we will have meetings with parliamentary groups. I wish the opposition to participate in the meeting, to listen to each other and make proposals, why not names, our wish is to have a president who meets the criteria.”he said.
There are still no concrete names from the leaders of the parliamentary groups, Taulant Balla, Enkelejd Alibeaj, Fatmir Mediu and Mesila Doda, who are involved in the negotiations.
