Residents of Porto Romano were alarmed on Saturday morning when a fire broke out at a gas factory on the outskirts of Durres.
Frightened by the explosions that followed the fire, toxic fumes and the presence of large amounts of gas in the factory tanks they have abandoned their homes.
The factory staff and firefighters who arrived at the scene have put under control the fire from which there was only material damage, while the residents, although they quickly returned to the apartments, talk about the insecurity caused by the gas factory near their homes.
From the first investigations it results that the fire was caused by an electric spark in the compressor and that the material damages are small, but this incident was enough to return the insecurity for life and health to the residents.
Living with a gas factory is not at all easy for them as they recall that years ago a leather factory was set up here that closed after their constant protests.
