In Korça, the fires of Summer Day, which symbolize the accompaniment of winter, were lit for the second time.
Numerous residents of the city came out to the squares in front of the palaces or other spaces in front of the houses to perform the permanent ritual of lighting and overcoming the fire that precedes the Summer Day celebrations in every family where housewives also prepare traditional dishes.
In Korça, Summer Day is celebrated once on a March and once on March 14.
In the city of Kukës and in the surrounding villages, fires with old wood or bushes are traditionally lit as a warning for Summer Day. But this ritual has lost its tradition for years, as car tires are being used to light fires by children. Dozens of tires were assembled on Sunday evening, opening the way for the fire service, which had to turn off 10 fires.
The burning of car tires brought a massive pollution of the environment and serious danger to the building of a 9-year school and a city kindergarten, after being set on fire in their yards.
