5 Kosovo police officers were injured during an action to stop a truck in the north of the country that was smuggling goods.
The incident took place in the evening hours of Saturday, in the village of Jashnica in Leposavič, where the police trying to stop the truck were prevented by two civilian vehicles.
The Kosovo Police in an official announcement about the event says that at first they stopped a black car with unknown license plates and its driver was allegedly talking on the phone with the truck driver.
The truck then, at a high speed, came towards the cars and the policemen, with the aim of hitting them, thus hitting one of the police vehicles.
The police say that, despite all the signals to stop, the driver did not obey and kept walking.
They were immediately chased, but “in an ongoing effort to stop them, the truck driver hit the police car for the second time, causing injuries to the police officers as well as causing considerable material damage”.
The police say they managed to stop the truck in the village of Llazhinë and arrested the driver.
